The Najjar House Lower Grounds and Sauna
On the lowest of the three levels of the sloping
back yard the design uses the Japanese concept of 'borrowing'. So instead
of a high wall being built, the retailer wall at the back of the property
had just enough additional wall added to it to create a rising bevel at
the back of the yard to accomodate some evergreen bushes and a fasinating
fountain (where the ball rests) that features water running down through
a maze of broken stone tiles creating a brook like sound.
Since the wall is short it allows a view
to the surrounding wooded grounds thus borrowing the landscape.
The yard was designed to give the impression
of an ancient Aztec ball playing field.
Also on this lower level, beneath the jacuzzi
is a very rage steam room made of cut stone tiles. Very impressive. |
