Cuernavaca

The elevation of Cuernavaca is 1,548 meters (about 5,000 feet) and it is  centrally located in Mexico giving easy reach other cities of cultural and recreational interest in the area as well as archeological site..

Mexico City and Taxco are nearby and can be reached in about one and a half hours. Puebla is two hours to the northwest and the beach resorts of Acapulco are four hours to the south. 

There is good public transportation to go to places all through the area and the Mexico City Airport has bus rides to Cuernavaca via Pullman de Morelos.
The local volcano "El Popo" that is situated between Cuernavaca and Puebla makes for a spectacular backdrop on a clear day when it is not smoking. This currently active volcano often spews smoke which speads out in all directions depending on the wind and the smoke often fills the valley of which Cuernavaca is a part.

These are some shaded benches on the side of the Plaza de Armas which is the main zocalo of Cuernavaca. It is also known as the Plaza de la Constitucion. Cuernavaca's main plaza, it is a large open space used by the local population for traveling conventions, protests, large public gatherings and a place to hang out on sundays.

There are often people selling things and a couple of spray can artists making pictures of outer space landscapes for sale.
